  • Abstract:
In this report a list of the fauna of insects and mites of the nature reserve Meinweg and in the valley of the river Roer, province of Zuid-Limburg, The Netherlands, is presented. During the meeting, 31 May - 2 June 2002 in Herkenbosch, a total of 1174 taxa belonging to six orders was identified. Especially beetles Coleoptera were well-represented, with 793 taxa (about two-thirds of the total), but the number of bug Heteroptera species was also exceptionally high, with 170 species. The number ofspecies new to the fauna of Limburg was low, which is due to the fact that this is since long the best-surveyed province. The water beetle Chaetarthria similis, collected in the river Roer, has not previously been recorded in The Netherlands. The thrips Odontothrips ignobilis and the mite Anthoseius richteri were also new to the Dutch fauna.
Dermestidae found: Attagenus pellio, Megatoma undata, Anthrenus pimpinellae, Anthrenus verbasci, Anthrenus fuscus.
